The desert taught me to see. Here in the desert, we don't just have dust: We have billions of tiny mica and silica particles floating in the air. They mirror every change of light.
Extreme heat and "mirror dust" cause mirages. Dusty rocks become gold, barren ground becomes an oases, and predators seem innocent. Every night at sunset, dusty brown dirt reflects magenta, azure, gold and rose as it swirls through the air.
